Japn 2010 Intermediate Japanese

This course is the start of really diving deep into Japanese learning. This course covers more than just the basics and starts to get into the details of grammar and vocabulary, and more difficult kanji. I would say maybe around 50/50 english and Japanese was used during teaching.

Japn 2020 Intermediate Japanese II (Meiji Gakuin University)

This course was taken when I was studying abroad, so it was not necessarily the continuation from my last course, but was similar in building on more grammar, vocabular, and kanji. Along with practicing speaking and writing more heavily. This course was taught in about 80% Japanese/20% English.

Japn 3050 Japanese Conversation and Comp II (Meiji Gakuin University)

This course was a continuation of the last course. Still continued the building of everything. This class also had 2 classes that went along with this one. One was a big focus on writing and reading, where we had to write stories and summaries of books. The other was to focus on listening and speaking, where we had to give multiple presentations on topics. The course was taught fully in Japanese.

Japn 4040 Cultural Studies in Japan (Meiji Gakuin University)

This course was taken abroad. This course focused on teaching of Pop culture in Japan. It taught all of the popular cultural activities that are popular in Japan in the present day. We had to physically go somewhere with our group and take pictures that resembled our topic.

Japn 4170 Japanese Culture and Society (Meiji Gakuin University)

This course was taken abroad. This course focused on interaction between Japanese students and foreign students. Each class you were partnered up with a Japanese student, as we watched different Japanese media, such as anime, movies, and comedy. Then we answered questions while watching these media based on the culture and society of Japan, together with your Japanese partner. I think one of the best parts of this course was being partnered with a Japanese student as I learned many cultural differences between America and Japan just from talking with them during the course. This course was fully in Japanese.
